About 10.43 million cotton bales have reached the ginneries till December 1, which raised the prospects of achieving the target of 12.10 million bales, set by the government for the current cotton season.

Cotton lint price has touched Rs 4,400 per maund on December 1; due to big buyers making purchases on grounds that price will increase further in the global markets.

The Central Cotton Committee had first estimated the cotton production for the year 2009-10 at 13.36 million bales, but later revised it to 12.10 million bales on reports of falling yields due to pest attacks.
